Air Cairo Launches Direct Flights from Yerevan to New Alamein
Air Cairo, the economic arm of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, has welcomed its inaugural direct flight from Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, to New Alamein International Airport. This milestone reflects the airline’s success in expanding into targeted international markets and enhances New Alamein’s status as a global tourist destination.
This development aligns with the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s commitment to strengthening air connectivity with promising tourism markets and boosting incoming air and tourism traffic to Egypt.
The arrival of the inaugural flight at New Alamein International Airport was celebrated with festivities, as it carried a group of tourists eager to explore Egypt’s tourist attractions, particularly New Alamein, which has emerged as one of the most prominent tourist and investment destinations in the Mediterranean region in recent years.
The launch of this new route is part of Air Cairo’s efforts to support incoming tourism to Egypt by providing more direct travel options, thereby increasing tourist flows to various Egyptian cities, especially coastal destinations that have seen a growing demand from European and regional markets.
Hossam Sherif, Chairman of Air Cairo, emphasized that the direct flights between Yerevan and New Alamein represent a significant addition to the airline’s network and reflect the increasing confidence in Egypt’s tourism sector from international markets.
Sherif noted that this new route responds to the rising demand for travel to Egypt from the Armenian market. He highlighted that Air Cairo continues to implement its expansion plans and explore opportunities for launching additional international destinations, supporting Egypt’s goals for revitalizing tourism and enhancing air connectivity with promising markets.
He also mentioned that Air Cairo operates a weekly direct flight between Yerevan and New Alamein every Wednesday, with plans to increase operational capacity in line with growing demand and tourism traffic between the two countries.
Furthermore, Air Cairo is committed to expanding its operations by adding new destinations and increasing flight frequencies on several international routes. This strategy aims to strengthen its position as one of Egypt’s national airlines supporting both tourism and economic development while connecting Egyptian destinations with various promising global markets.
