Air Cairo Launches First Direct Flights from Portugal to New Alamein
Air Cairo has inaugurated its first direct flight from Porto, Portugal, to New Alamein International Airport, carrying 180 passengers. This milestone reflects the airline’s successful expansion strategy in European markets and its pivotal role in enhancing tourism traffic to Egypt while strengthening air connectivity between Egyptian tourist destinations and international markets.
As the only Egyptian airline operating direct flights between Egypt and Portugal, Air Cairo aims to open new tourist markets for Egypt and enhance opportunities for attracting more European tourists, particularly to New Alamein, which is rapidly emerging as one of the region’s premier modern tourist destinations.
Hussein Sharif, Chairman of Air Cairo, stated: “We take pride in launching our inaugural flight from Porto to New Alamein as part of our ongoing plans to expand into promising markets and enhance our international route network. This flight represents an important addition to our operations and underscores Air Cairo’s commitment to supporting inbound tourism to Egypt while opening new avenues for tourists to explore diverse Egyptian destinations. Stay tuned for more new markets that Air Cairo will serve.”.
He further emphasized that Air Cairo is the only Egyptian carrier linking Egypt and Portugal with direct flights. The airline has become the largest specialized Egyptian carrier participating in attracting inbound tourism to Egypt, reflecting the growing confidence from partners and international tour operators in the company’s service quality and its ability to meet the needs of various tourist-generating markets.
Sharif assured that the airline has maintained regular operations despite current regional and international challenges: “Air Cairo has not canceled any scheduled flights recently and has continued operating according to approved operational plans, except for cases related to exceptional circumstances beyond the company’s control, such as airport closures or operational restrictions imposed by relevant authorities or any exceptional events affecting air traffic safety.”.
This commitment highlights the airline’s dedication to fulfilling its contracts with tour operators and travel companies while maintaining customer trust. It also supports Egypt’s strategy aimed at boosting tourism traffic and increasing the number of incoming tourists.
The launch of the Porto-New Alamein route is part of Air Cairo’s plan to continue expanding into European markets, solidifying its position as a key partner in supporting the Egyptian tourism sector through a growing network of scheduled and charter flights connecting Egypt with numerous international destinations. This effort contributes significantly to enhancing Egypt’s status as a global tourist destination.
