Real Madrid Demands UEFA to Reinvestigate Negreira Case Against Barcelona
Real Madrid has intensified its efforts regarding the Negreira case linked to Spanish refereeing, announcing the submission of an official memorandum to the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). This memorandum includes what the club describes as significant evidence supporting known indicators of financial payments made by FC Barcelona to José María Enriquez Negreira, the former vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees.
In a statement published on its official website, Real Madrid called on UEFA to reopen the disciplinary investigation previously initiated into the matter. The club emphasized that prolonging this unresolved issue is unacceptable due to the substantial damage it inflicts on the credibility of football and its governing bodies.
The Spanish club asserted that the facts surrounding this case pose a serious threat to the integrity of competitions, revealing an administrative structure aimed at unlawfully influencing the refereeing system, which contradicts principles of competitive fairness and neutrality among all clubs.
Real Madrid also urged UEFA to take appropriate disciplinary and reformative measures to ensure integrity, transparency, and proper conduct in competitions.
Concluding its statement, the club reaffirmed its commitment to defending the core values of sports and pledged to continue taking all necessary steps to ensure accountability for such incidents.
