President Abdel Fattah El Sisi participated today in a session titled “Ensuring Safe, Rapid, and Effective Deployment of Artificial Intelligence,” as part of the G7 summit held in Évian, France.

According to a statement from the official spokesperson for the presidency, leaders and business heads highlighted that artificial intelligence has become deeply integrated into various aspects of life. They acknowledged both opportunities and risks arising from its use, necessitating a clear roadmap and a legal framework for digital transformation and AI in each country. The importance of enhancing coordination and cooperation among nations in this field was also emphasized.

Furthermore, participants stressed the need for significant steps in AI governance and capacity building to keep pace with the rapidly evolving field.

Ambassador Mohamed El Shenawy, the official spokesperson, noted that attendees underscored the risks posed by artificial intelligence on security, social, ethical, and informational fronts. This is particularly concerning given the absence of international governance over these technologies, which could undermine national sovereignty and the benefits of the digital revolution while widening gaps not only between different social classes but also between developed and developing countries.

In this context, there was a renewed call for international collaboration and the establishment of joint efforts, including partnerships between public and private sectors, to address these risks while maximizing the benefits offered by artificial intelligence.

The spokesperson added that President Sisi emphasized the importance of strengthening AI governance. He affirmed that developing this technology is a natural and ongoing process, highlighting that humanity is still in its early stages in this area. He reiterated the necessity to address and avoid the risks associated with artificial intelligence.
