Manchester United Set to Gain £15.9 Million from Ruben Amorim’s Potential Move to AC Milan

Written byFerdous Saeed

Manchester United stands to benefit financially by up to £15.9 million if Ruben Amorim is appointed as the head coach of AC Milan. The Portuguese manager has reportedly emerged as a top candidate for the position at San Siro, following his departure from Old Trafford six months ago.

Amorim was dismissed by Manchester United in January after a disappointing run of three wins in 11 matches, which left the team in sixth place in the Premier League standings.

Before his exit, Amorim publicly criticized the club’s management, a move that appeared vindicated when Michael Carrick guided Manchester United to a third-place finish and secured a Champions League spot.

Five months later, Amorim was considered for the managerial role at Fulham, but the club ultimately chose Alvaro Arbeloa instead.

However, it appears that Amorim could quickly return to management with AC Milan, as reports suggest that the 41-year-old has agreed to succeed Massimiliano Allegri this summer.

Upon leaving Manchester United with 18 months remaining on his contract, Amorim was entitled to significant compensation. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Manchester United would save a considerable amount if Amorim takes on the role at AC Milan.

The Red Devils had reportedly agreed to pay up to £16.7 million to Amorim and his coaching staff upon their termination, with £15.9 million specifically owed to him.

Jacobs noted that payments for Amorim’s compensation would cease once he secures another official position, providing INEOS with a financial advantage at a pivotal moment.

The summer transfer window in England opens officially on Monday, and Manchester United continues its ambitious stadium project, aiming for completion by 2031.

While £15.9 million may not be a substantial sum for a club of Manchester United’s stature, any financial boost is beneficial for Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team.

The Red Devils are poised to finalize the signing of Atalanta BC midfielder Ederson for approximately £34 million after delays due to the Brazilian’s late World Cup selection.

An £80 million deal for West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes is also being discussed, particularly as Manchester City has moved ahead in their pursuit of Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson.

Additionally, Manchester United has identified a £40 million alternative to Anderson, who has received praise for his industrious performance during the World Cup.
