Minister Manal Awad Orders Termination of Cleaning Contract in Red Sea Cities
Dr. Manal Awad, the Minister of Local Development and Environment, has instructed the immediate termination of the contract with the cleaning company responsible for waste management in the cities of Ras Ghareb and Safaga in the Red Sea Governorate due to poor cleanliness standards. This directive came during her field visit to Ras Ghareb, accompanied by Dr. Walid Al-Barqi, the Governor of the Red Sea.
Dr. Awad emphasized the urgency of issuing a new tender for a specialized cleaning company that meets high technical and environmental standards to enhance waste management services in both cities.
During her visit, Dr. Awad directed that officials responsible for the cleanliness file at the city council be investigated for failing to take necessary actions regarding this critical issue affecting citizens’ daily lives. She reprimanded the head of Ras Ghareb City Council for the low standards of waste management and noted numerous complaints from residents regarding garbage accumulation in various areas.
The Minister also called on the executive authorities in the governorate to conduct regular monitoring of cleanliness levels and to employ additional cleaning workers to maintain public hygiene until a specialized company is engaged.
Dr. Manal Awad stressed the importance of ongoing field monitoring of the project to ensure operational efficiency and maximize benefits from implemented investments, which would directly reflect on improving services provided to citizens.
