Prime Minister Allocates Additional Funding to Enhance Giza’s Waste Management System
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Egypt’s Prime Minister, convened a meeting today to review the progress of developmental and service projects in Giza. The meeting included Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Environment, and Dr. Ahmed El Ansary, Governor of Giza.
During the session, Governor El Ansary presented a summary of the province’s efforts over the past 120 days. He reported the issuance of 274 administrative decisions aimed at organizing workflows and enhancing performance across various provincial departments. Additionally, he noted the release of 17 circulars to standardize administrative procedures, alongside numerous daytime and nighttime field inspections to ensure operational consistency. El Ansary also highlighted that 48 meetings had been held with executive bodies to promote coordination and integration between the province and relevant authorities.
The governor detailed the implementation status of plans to develop and revitalize the “Nazlet El Semman” and “Arez Aziz Ezzat” areas, outlining current completion rates, execution stages, and timelines for project completion to enhance urban environments and improve public services.
Regarding the unified investment plan for the fiscal year 2025/2026, Governor El Ansary mentioned completed projects including roadworks and utilities in Abu Rawash industrial area, improvements around the Grand Egyptian Museum, road paving initiatives, development of administrative buildings, traffic system enhancements, as well as local transport projects aimed at environmental improvements and local economic development.

The meeting also addressed future investment opportunities in Giza across industrial, agricultural, tourism, service, and commercial sectors to support investment attraction efforts and enhance economic activity while creating job opportunities.
Additionally, Governor El Ansary updated attendees on the status of regularization cases regarding construction violations. From May 2024 to mid-June 2026, a total of 206,305 reconciliation requests were submitted with resolutions made on 201,825 requests—yielding an achievement rate exceeding 97%. Efforts continue to address outstanding applications.
In line with this discussion, indicators regarding general shop licensing under Law No. 154 of 2019 were reviewed. Since December 2022 through June 2026, approximately 18,966 requests for permanent and temporary licenses have been submitted while efforts continue to improve processing rates for citizens.
Governor El Ansary also highlighted key outcomes from the presidential initiative “Decent Life,” noting that approximately 800 projects have been completed in targeted centers and villages within the province—reflecting significant efforts to enhance service levels and infrastructure quality for residents.
On waste management issues, he emphasized a comprehensive system based on digital solutions and modern infrastructure designed for sustainability while improving waste management efficiency. A sanitary landfill has been established in Shabramant covering an area of 81 acres for safe disposal according to environmental standards. Furthermore, a contract has been secured with a specialized company for recycling waste along with digitizing solid waste collection systems to enhance oversight on collection operations and curb illegal dumping.
The governor added that significant initiatives are underway to transform solid waste management into sustainable economic development projects involving substantial investments aimed at converting waste into energy and producing environmentally friendly materials—directly contributing to enhancing urban aesthetics in tourist areas.
The meeting also reviewed plans for adding 500 new hotel rooms along with constructing 1,000 luxury hotel units as well as establishing a comprehensive conference center capable of accommodating up to 5,000 people—strengthening the region’s position as a hub for business tourism and conferences given its proximity to the Grand Egyptian Museum.
In closing remarks, Prime Minister Madbouly instructed immediate allocation of additional financial resources for enhancing Giza’s waste management system while intensifying efforts to elevate service levels provided to citizens. He tasked relevant authorities with commencing vital infrastructure projects according to defined timelines that will contribute positively toward improving service quality and achieving developmental goals in Giza.
