Egypt’s Drug Authority Prioritizes Investment and Industry Localization

Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawi, head of the Egyptian Drug Authority, met with a delegation from Danish companies specializing in medical devices and supplies, led by Mr. Thorkild Nielsen, Regional Sales Manager and Head of International Sector at LINAK.
The meeting included participation from industry leaders such as G.C. Frederiksen, Director for Gulf Cooperation Council and International Markets at Coloplast; Bashar Bani Habib, Regional Business Development Manager at UV Medico; and Dr. Vasiliki (Vicky) Vala, Global Regulatory Compliance Head at Evnia, among others. They gathered to explore collaborative opportunities and investment prospects in the Egyptian market.
During the meeting, Dr. Al-Ghamrawi highlighted the rapid advancements in Egypt’s pharmaceutical and medical device sectors. He emphasized the Egyptian Drug Authority’s efforts to enhance the regulatory environment in line with international standards, which aims to foster a more attractive investment climate and strengthen the competitiveness of the Egyptian market for global companies.
Dr. Al-Ghamrawi stated that attracting quality investments, technology transfer, and localizing industry remain top priorities for the Egyptian Drug Authority. This aligns with the country’s strategy to position Egypt as a leading regional hub for manufacturing and innovation in health care.
The Danish delegation expressed appreciation for the developments within Egypt’s healthcare sector and its promising investment opportunities. They reaffirmed their interest in expanding collaboration with the Egyptian Drug Authority to explore partnerships in medical devices and supplies that would facilitate innovation and transfer advanced technologies into the Egyptian market.
The two sides discussed collaborative opportunities in medical devices and supplies, focusing on enhancing partnerships with Danish companies to leverage their expertise in medical technology and innovation while localizing modern technologies to develop Egypt’s healthcare system.
Investment opportunities within the Egyptian market were also addressed, highlighting its strategic advantages, growing industrial base, and favorable geographic location that positions it as a regional center for manufacturing and exporting to Middle Eastern and African markets.
The delegation expressed keen interest in pursuing cooperation opportunities within the framework of strong economic relations between Egypt and Denmark. This would support sustainable partnerships between public and private sectors while enhancing joint investment opportunities moving forward.
Both parties concluded by emphasizing the importance of ongoing coordination and constructive dialogue in the coming period to support innovation, develop medical industries, and reinforce Egypt’s position as a leading regional hub in healthcare according to international standards.
