Manchester United Declines Barcelona’s Interest in Second Marcus Rashford Loan
Manchester United has reportedly made it clear that they will not engage in discussions with Barcelona regarding a second loan deal for Marcus Rashford during the 2026-27 season.
Rashford spent the previous season on loan at Barcelona, where he enjoyed a successful run, netting 14 goals and providing 14 assists across 49 appearances in all competitions.
This summer, the La Liga champions had an opportunity to secure the 28-year-old forward for £26 million, but that option has since lapsed. Consequently, Rashford is expected to return to Manchester United following the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup.
Despite speculation suggesting that Bayern Munich might pursue another loan arrangement for Rashford next season, ESPN reports that Manchester United is not interested in discussing a short-term deal with Barcelona.

Manchester United Firm on Rashford’s Future
The report indicates that any attempts by Barcelona to sign Rashford on loan next season will be firmly rejected.
While there have been suggestions that Manchester United might reintegrate Rashford into their first-team squad, these claims are considered unlikely. The club appears more inclined to explore permanent transfer options rather than entertain discussions about his return.
Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown shared his perspective with Sports Mole, expressing optimism about Rashford’s potential return to Old Trafford for the upcoming season.
“There’s 100% still a space for Marcus Rashford at Manchester United. He’s still a Man United player and he’ll be returning to the club after the World Cup,” Brown stated.

Brown Advocates for Rashford’s Return
Brown continued, “Michael Carrick has managed him before and there was no problem between them. Michael appreciates how good of a player he is and would love him at the club, even if it’s just for another year.”.
He added that Rashford would provide Manchester United with another attacking option and enhance their offensive dynamism. “There’s nothing wrong with players competing for positions,” he remarked.
Bayern Munich has also shown interest in Rashford; however, it remains uncertain whether they will make a formal offer.
In his career at Manchester United, Rashford has scored 138 goals and provided 79 assists in 426 matches across all competitions. Notably, he has not featured for the Red Devils since December 2024.
