Manchester United Sets Asking Price for Manuel Ugarte Amid AC Milan Interest
Manchester United has reportedly established an asking price for midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who is being pursued by AC Milan, managed by Ruben Amorim.
Ugarte previously played under Amorim at Sporting Lisbon before transferring to Paris Saint-Germain. After just one season in France, he joined Manchester United in August 2024 for approximately £52 million.
During his time with the Red Devils, the 25-year-old has made 69 first-team appearances across all competitions but faced challenges in securing a regular starting position during the 2025-26 season.
Limited to only eight Premier League starts, Ugarte’s playing time diminished following the arrival of head coach Michael Carrick and the promotion of Kobbie Mainoo to the senior squad.
Currently participating in the 2026 World Cup, Ugarte has three years left on his contract at Old Trafford, yet speculation regarding his future is intensifying.

Ugarte’s Agent Negotiates with Milan as United Sets Price
The Daily Mirror reports that AC Milan is considering a move to reunite Ugarte with Amorim. Manchester United is eager to offload the midfielder to the highest bidder this summer.
Milan recently parted ways with Massimiliano Allegri after failing to secure Champions League qualification and appointed Amorim as their new coach, just five months after he was let go by Manchester United.
Amorim has reportedly earmarked Ugarte as a ‘top summer target,’ and Carrick appears supportive of allowing him to leave. Consequently, Ugarte’s agent has initiated discussions with Milan regarding a potential transfer.
United aims to generate around £30 million (€34.5 million) from Ugarte’s sale; however, Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani is hesitant to meet that asking price. Further negotiations are planned in hopes of reaching an agreement.

Potential Transfers for Manchester United
The sale of Ugarte would create space in Carrick’s midfield lineup, potentially allowing for Brazil international Ederson to join from Atalanta BC for a fee of £35 million either during or after the World Cup.
Manchester United is also looking to strengthen their midfield this summer following Casemiro’s departure. However, it seems unlikely they will pay a record £130 million for their primary target Elliot Anderson, who has also attracted interest from Manchester City.
The Red Devils may be willing to invest significantly in West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes, valued at around £80 million after his team’s relegation from the Premier League. Additionally, Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali is under consideration, along with Mamadou Sangare from Lens and Lamine Camara from Monaco as potential cost-effective alternatives.
