Chelsea Targets Ivorian Defender Ousmane Diomande Amidst Transfer Competition
Ousmane Diomande, a central defender from Sporting CP, is capturing attention across Europe this summer as he becomes a sought-after talent from Ivory Coast. The 22-year-old has emerged in a competitive transfer market, with four clubs reportedly expressing concrete interest in acquiring his services.
While his compatriot Yan Diomande has been making headlines with his impressive performances for RB Leipzig and during the early stages of the 2026 World Cup, Ousmane is also gaining recognition. Leeds United was the first club to approach Sporting CP for the defender, but they are not alone in their pursuit.

Recent reports from Top Mercato indicate that Chelsea, Bournemouth, and Serie A club Como have all shown interest alongside Leeds United. Chelsea, known for their keen eye on emerging talent, sees potential in Diomande. However, Como could pose a significant challenge; they will compete in the Champions League next season, an advantage that may appeal to the player more than the English clubs.

Since making his international debut for Ivory Coast in September 2023, Diomande is eager to recover in time for the upcoming match against Germany at the World Cup. He is under contract with Sporting CP until June 2030 and has a release clause set at £68 million (€80 million). However, reports suggest that Sporting CP would entertain offers between £34 million and £38 million (€40-45 million) for a potential transfer this summer.
The competition for Diomande is expected to intensify as more clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Crystal Palace have also shown interest over recent months. With such demand surrounding his name, it seems likely that he will command a premium price regardless of where he ultimately ends up.
