Arsenal Eye Mason Greenwood Amid Tottenham’s Dismissal of Interest
Arsenal is reportedly in the running to acquire Marseille forward Mason Greenwood, as the French club may be open to a lucrative sale this summer.
The former Manchester United striker has been frequently linked with a return to the Premier League after revitalizing his career in Ligue 1.
Manager Mikel Arteta is actively seeking attacking reinforcements for the Gunners’ Premier League title defense, and Greenwood is now believed to be on their radar.
According to French outlet L’Equipe, cited by Mirror Football, Arsenal is among several clubs monitoring the 24-year-old forward.
Marseille reportedly values Greenwood at around €80 million (£69.3 million) as they aim to adhere to financial regulations.

While Arsenal has long been associated with interest in Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez, Greenwood is emerging as a potential alternative should a move for the Argentine fail to materialize.
The forward remains under contract with Marseille until 2029, but the Ligue 1 side appears willing to cash in, given his impressive tally of 48 goals in 81 appearances since joining in 2024.
Roma is also reportedly interested, and earlier reports suggested that Tottenham Hotspur might consider entering the fray.
Greenwood, who netted 35 goals in 129 matches for Manchester United before departing Old Trafford, has significantly rehabilitated his on-field reputation in France.
A potential transfer would likely involve intricate negotiations due to both his transfer fee and the broader context surrounding his career.

Despite earlier rumors, Tottenham Hotspur has made it clear that they do not intend to pursue Greenwood, even after appointing Roberto De Zerbi as their new head coach.
The Italian previously worked with Greenwood at Marseille and faced criticism from some Spurs fans over his past sympathetic remarks regarding Greenwood’s situation.
De Zerbi has since emphasized his opposition to any form of violence, especially against women, expressing sensitivity on the issue as a father and denouncing all forms of sexist behavior.
Greenwood was previously charged with attempted rape and controlling and coercive behavior; however, those charges were later dropped. His future remains under scrutiny both on and off the pitch.
While Arsenal’s reported interest adds another layer to the forward’s prospects, Tottenham’s clear stance positions the Gunners and international clubs as more likely destinations if Marseille opts to sell.
