Transfer Update: Emiliano Martinez Faces Setback in Juventus Move, Leeds Targets Brandt

Written byFerdous Saeed

Emiliano Martinez’s potential transfer from Aston Villa to Juventus has reportedly hit a significant roadblock this summer. The Argentine goalkeeper is eager for a new challenge away from Villa Park, with Juventus emerging as a strong contender for his signature.

However, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the financial demands of a deal could compel the Italian club to reconsider their interest. Di Marzio notes that Martinez has become Juventus’ top target for the goalkeeper position following the news that Alisson will remain with Liverpool.

Despite this interest, Juventus is unwilling to overspend on the experienced 33-year-old. Last summer, Martinez was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United before they opted to sign Senne Lammens instead. Since joining Villa, he has made 256 appearances across all competitions and kept 80 clean sheets.

Leeds United Pursues Free Agent Julian Brandt

In other transfer news, Leeds United is reportedly interested in acquiring free agent Julian Brandt this summer. The 30-year-old winger will leave Borussia Dortmund when his contract expires at the end of June, leading to speculation about his next destination.

Journalist Graham Smyth indicates that Leeds is currently assessing the possibility of signing Brandt but will face stiff competition from other clubs eager for his services. Smyth mentions that several teams, including those in the Champions League, have presented attractive offers to the player.

A seasoned international with 48 caps for Germany, Brandt departs Dortmund after making 307 appearances and contributing 57 goals along with 70 assists. He also played 215 matches during his tenure at Bayer Leverkusen and is expected to be one of the most sought-after free agents this transfer window.

Ipswich Town Negotiates Transfer for Levante’s Etta Eyong

Additionally, Ipswich Town has reportedly begun discussions with Levante regarding striker Etta Eyong’s transfer this summer. The young Cameroon international was previously linked with prestigious clubs such as Barcelona and Real Madrid during the earlier part of last season.

However, after losing his starting position in a challenging second half of the 2025-26 campaign, speculation surrounding Eyong’s future had diminished. Journalist Ben Jacobs now reports that Ipswich could provide him an opportunity in the Premier League next season.

Levante is reportedly seeking between £25 million and £30 million for Eyong, who scored seven goals and provided four assists in 33 appearances during Spain’s top flight last season. Everton is also monitoring developments regarding his potential move.
