Chelsea in Talks with Juventus for Andrea Cambiaso Swap Deal
Chelsea is reportedly in discussions with Juventus about a potential swap deal for defender Andrea Cambiaso. The Blues are actively seeking a new left-back following the departure of Marc Cucurella, who has joined Real Madrid despite his previous connections to Barcelona.
In their search for reinforcements, Chelsea has also expressed interest in Alex Grimaldo from Bayer Leverkusen; however, he appears set to return to Spain with Atletico Madrid. Consequently, the West London club is exploring alternative defensive options as they prepare for Xabi Alonso’s first season at Stamford Bridge, where they will focus solely on domestic competitions during the 2026-27 season.
After finishing the Premier League season in 10th place, just one point shy of European qualification, Chelsea is eager to bolster its squad. They suffered a disappointing loss on the final day against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in May.

Chelsea Explores Cambiaso and Jackson Swap Deal
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea is also looking to secure Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt, although he seems poised for a move to Bayern Munich. As a result, Chelsea is shifting its focus toward Cambiaso, who contributed seven goals in 36 Serie A appearances last season.
The report indicates that Chelsea values the 26-year-old at £25 million, while Juventus is aiming for at least £34 million in a deal that could involve player exchanges.
As negotiations progress, several Chelsea players have been mentioned as potential makeweights. Striker Nicolas Jackson has frequently come up in discussions; he is seen as surplus to requirements following Bayern Munich’s decision not to sign him permanently after his loan last season.

Cambiaso Aligns with Chelsea’s Strategy
New manager Xabi Alonso is expected to implement a 3-4-3 formation similar to the one that worked well during his time at Bayer Leverkusen. Cambiaso, a versatile wing-back capable of playing on both sides, would fit seamlessly into this system. The Italian has established himself as a top-tier wide player in Serie A over recent years.
With Italy failing to qualify for this summer’s expanded World Cup, Cambiaso will have ample time during the off-season to rest and prepare for what promises to be an intense Premier League campaign starting in August.
