The Brazilian national team, under the guidance of Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, has suffered a significant setback with the confirmation that star player Neymar da Silva will miss the upcoming match against Haiti. This game is part of the second round of the group stage in the 2026 World Cup.

The Brazilian Football Confederation announced in an official statement that Neymar will not join the squad traveling to Philadelphia for the match, as he continues his rehabilitation program in New Jersey.

The statement clarified that Neymar will focus on completing his final recovery phase, aiming to return to full fitness as soon as possible without rushing his return to matches.

This decision follows Neymar’s absence from the opening match against Morocco due to injury, despite his gradual return to team training recently.

The Brazilian forward, who is the all-time top scorer for the national team with 79 goals, sustained a muscle injury in his right calf while playing for Santos about a month ago, which has sidelined him from international duty.

Although previous comments from the coaching staff expressed optimism about Neymar’s chances of participating in the Haiti match, the decision to keep him off the roster was made to avoid any risks that could impact his participation in later stages of the tournament.

Brazil hopes to secure a positive result against Haiti to correct their course after drawing 1-1 with Morocco in their opening game.
