Egypt’s Interior Minister Welcomes UN Police Advisor to Enhance Peacekeeping Cooperation

On Thursday, Mahmoud Tawfik, Egypt’s Minister of Interior, met with Faisal Shahkar, the Police Advisor for the United Nations, during his official visit to Egypt. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between the international organization and the Egyptian Ministry of Interior.
The UN official expressed appreciation for Egypt’s significant contributions to UN peacekeeping missions, commending the role of Egyptian police personnel in supporting stability and peacebuilding in conflict areas. He noted that their efforts have consistently earned the trust and respect of UN leadership due to their outstanding reputation for professionalism and adherence to high standards of conduct.
In response, Minister Tawfik welcomed Shahkar’s visit, emphasizing the Ministry’s commitment to sending distinguished officers and female police personnel for training at the Egyptian Center for Peacekeeping Operations. He highlighted that this training equips them with the necessary skills and expertise for their roles in peacekeeping missions. Furthermore, he reiterated the Ministry’s willingness to host training events organized by the UN as part of efforts to strengthen collaborative mechanisms and support international security initiatives.
