Advanced Air Pollution Monitoring Devices Launched in Greater Cairo
The Minister of Local Development and Environment, Dr. Manal Awad, announced the installation and operation of the latest air pollution and greenhouse gas monitoring devices at 12 environmental monitoring stations across Greater Cairo.
This initiative marks a first for Egypt and the region, focusing on tracking short-lived climate pollutants and ultra-fine particles.
In a statement released today, the minister emphasized that this project is part of the government’s efforts to enhance air quality and combat the impacts of climate change. The implementation is part of the “Air Pollution Management and Climate Change in Greater Cairo” project, which is funded by the World Bank.
Dr. Awad further noted that the project aims to enhance the capabilities of environmental monitoring systems by utilizing cutting-edge global technologies for detecting pollutants and airborne emissions.
