Egypt Introduces Advanced Carbon Black and Methane Monitoring Devices
Dr. Manal Awad, Governor of Damietta.
Dr. Manal Awad, Egypt’s Minister of Local Development and Environment, announced that modern measurement and monitoring devices for the “Air Pollution and Climate Change Management in Greater Cairo” project have arrived in Egypt and are currently being installed at various environmental stations across the Greater Cairo area.
In a statement today, she highlighted that this new development marks the first introduction of specialized devices to measure black carbon, one of the most dangerous short-lived climate pollutants resulting from incomplete combustion of fuel and waste. Additionally, devices for monitoring carbon dioxide and methane—two significant greenhouse gases contributing to climate change—are also being implemented.
This initiative represents a significant advancement in Egypt’s ability to track emissions responsible for air pollution and climate change.
