Aston Villa Among Premier League Clubs Eyeing Juventus Defender Lloyd Kelly

Written byFerdous Saeed

Aston Villa is reportedly one of three Premier League teams interested in acquiring Juventus defender Lloyd Kelly.

In the winter transfer window of 2025, Juventus made a surprising move to sign the Englishman from Newcastle United, initially bringing him in on loan. This arrangement eventually turned into a permanent deal, and the 27-year-old has since made 62 starts along with three appearances as a substitute across all competitions.

Despite being a regular starter in Juventus’ defense, the club’s failure to qualify for the upcoming Champions League has prompted them to invite offers for several players.

According to TuttoJuve, three Premier League clubs are considering making a bid for Kelly in the coming weeks.

Which Premier League Clubs Are Interested in Lloyd Kelly?

The report indicates that Aston Villa, his former club Newcastle United, and Nottingham Forest are all keeping an eye on the situation.

Before leaving St James’ Park, Kelly had only made six starts and seven substitute appearances across competitions.

From Aston Villa’s perspective, manager Unai Emery is actively seeking new players to refresh the squad and reduce its average age.

Currently, all four of Villa’s center-backs are aged between 28 and 33 years old, highlighting Emery’s need for younger signings.

Nottingham Forest is also prepared to pursue Kelly if it becomes clear that he would consider a move to their club.

Why Might Juventus Sell Lloyd Kelly?

From a financial standpoint, Juventus executives are exploring opportunities to profit from player sales. After joining the club for £15 million, Kelly’s reputation has grown significantly. The club believes they could potentially sell him for around £30 million this summer.

While Juventus has yet to make a final decision regarding his future, the prospect of doubling their investment on Kelly could be too appealing to pass up. Manager Luciano Spalletti is also eager to reinforce his defense during the summer transfer window.
