Luis de la Fuente Hints at Marc Cucurella’s Imminent Move to Real Madrid
Spain’s national team coach, Luis de la Fuente, has nearly confirmed that Marc Cucurella is set to finalize a significant transfer to Real Madrid.
After a challenging season with Chelsea in 2025-26, Cucurella reportedly expressed his desire to leave the club during the current summer transfer window.
Manchester United has shown interest in the Spanish left-back, and there have been suggestions that Barcelona might attempt to re-sign the 27-year-old.
Atletico Madrid has also been considered a strong contender for his services.
However, Real Madrid is believed to have reached an agreement for Cucurella, reportedly worth around £52 million.
Cucurella is currently with the Spain squad participating in the 2026 World Cup, and De la Fuente has hinted that a transfer announcement is imminent.

Cucurella’s Transfer to Real Madrid ‘Imminent’ with £52 Million Deal Agreed
Addressing reporters about Cucurella’s potential transfer, De la Fuente remarked, “I know all the players very well; I understand their commitment and professionalism. We’ve previously handled similar situations during the European Championship without issues or discomfort for anyone involved.”.
He further stated, “No one on the team would act in a way that could negatively impact the group. Absolutely not.”.
When asked if Cucurella’s move had been finalized, De la Fuente responded: “We celebrate if it’s good news for Cucu. If any other teammate receives good news during the tournament, we celebrate that as well. What benefits one player benefits the entire team. If he’s happy and content, then I’m happy too. Anything that brings joy to my players brings me joy as well.”.

Real Madrid Set to Announce Cucurella Deal ‘on Monday’
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has indicated that Real Madrid is expected to confirm Cucurella’s signing on a contract lasting until June 2032 by the end of Monday.
Cucurella was a standout player for Chelsea during their difficult season last year, making 50 appearances and contributing one goal along with four assists.
The Spaniard may quickly establish himself as Real Madrid’s primary left-back, taking over from Alvaro Carreras, who struggled with form in the latter part of the previous season.
