Egypt Signs Three Strategic MoUs to Enhance Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Systems in Africa

Signing of Three Strategic MoUs.

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, oversaw the signing of three strategic memoranda of understanding (MoUs) aimed at reinforcing Egypt’s commitment to regional and international cooperation, promoting African integration, and enhancing healthcare and pharmaceutical systems. These efforts are expected to contribute to achieving health security and sustainable development.

This event took place during the opening ceremony of the fifth edition of the African Medical Exhibition and Conference, where Dr. Madbouly represented President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The first MoU was signed between the Egyptian Drug Authority and Algeria’s National Agency for Pharmaceutical Products, focusing on collaboration in medical products and supplies. Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, head of the Egyptian Drug Authority, signed on behalf of Egypt, while Dr. Sherif Dlihi, Director General of the Algerian agency, represented Algeria.

The second MoU pertains to Egypt hosting the operational headquarters for the African Unified Procurement Mechanism (APPM). This agreement was made between the Egyptian Unified Procurement Authority and the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC). The signing was conducted by Dr. Hisham Sitiat, head of the Egyptian Unified Procurement Authority, and Dr. John Nkengasong, Director General of Africa CDC.

The third MoU also relates to Egypt’s participation in the African Unified Procurement Mechanism (APPM), again involving the Egyptian Unified Procurement Authority and Africa CDC. The signing was similarly executed by Dr. Hisham Sitiat and Dr. John Nkengasong.
