Giza Governor Reports Over 500,000 Tons of Local Wheat Received This Harvest Season

Written byNoha El Shafie

Dr. Ahmed El Ansari, the Governor of Giza, has announced the successful receipt of over 500,000 tons of local wheat since the start of the 2026 harvest season. This figure surpasses the targeted supply amounts and reflects an increase of 316,000 tons compared to last year’s harvest.

The Governor emphasized the importance of closely monitoring the wheat supply process through the main operations rooms in the governorate, which are connected to local units and supply administration branches. Field visits to storage sites are also part of this oversight.

El Ansari noted that a pre-arranged plan was developed in coordination with the Ministries of Supply and Agriculture and the Future Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority. This plan aims to streamline procedures for farmers and facilitate the receipt process. Committees have been formed to supervise and monitor supply operations at all storage locations, ensuring that any obstacles are addressed and that all necessary support is provided throughout the harvest season.

The Governor directed relevant authorities to eliminate any barriers faced by farmers to maximize benefits from local wheat production, reaffirming that the state spares no effort in supporting farmers and providing all necessary care and facilitation from the beginning of harvesting until the completion of wheat supply.

In related news, Mr. Blasi, Director of Supply and Internal Trade in Giza, stated that the governorate ranks second nationwide in terms of local wheat supplied. He mentioned that a total of 459,415 tons have been delivered to the Dabaa Silos Complex, one of the key storage sites operated by Future Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority, which utilizes advanced weight control systems, unloading and loading mechanisms, as well as sorting and analysis equipment.
