Chelsea’s Jimmy-Jay Morgan Set for Move to West Bromwich Albion
Chelsea is reportedly on the verge of transferring forward Jimmy-Jay Morgan to West Bromwich Albion. Following their retention of Championship status in the closing weeks of the 2025-26 season, the Baggies are actively seeking new talent to bolster their squad.
However, EFL financial regulations are expected to limit manager James Morrison’s ability to make significant changes ahead of the upcoming season. Despite these constraints, Morrison aims to identify value signings that could benefit the team both in the short and long term.
According to Football Insider, West Brom has made a formal approach to secure Morgan’s signature.

Who is Jimmy-Jay Morgan?
The 20-year-old talent spent his formative years with both Chelsea and Southampton, a situation influenced by travel challenges during his time at Chelsea. Although he scored 21 goals in 46 appearances for Chelsea’s Under-21 team, the England Under-20 international has yet to make his debut for the first team.
His senior development has taken place through loan spells at Gillingham in League Two and Peterborough United in League One last season. At Peterborough, Morgan had a standout year, netting 14 goals and providing four assists across 39 matches.
With just one year left on his contract, Chelsea is willing to cash in on the promising player, who appears set to continue his career in the Championship. While no specific transfer fee has been disclosed, Chelsea initially acquired Morgan for around £3 million in 2023 and will likely seek at least £750,000 to break even on their investment.

Morgan Deal: A Strategic Move for Both Clubs
West Brom has recently released players such as Jed Wallace and Daryl Dike, creating opportunities within their attacking lineup. While Morgan may not become an immediate starter at The Hawthorns, he possesses versatility and potential as a long-term asset for the club.
Given that West Brom struggled offensively last season during a challenging 46-game Championship campaign, Morgan will likely find opportunities to showcase his skills. He also presents a different option compared to Aune Heggebo and Josh Maja, who faced inconsistencies in front of goal last season.
