FIFA Announces Referees for Iraq vs. Norway Match, Amin Omar Takes on New Role in 2026 World Cup

The International Football Association (FIFA) has announced the officiating team for the Iraq versus Norway match in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, highlighting the continued presence of Egyptian referees on the global stage.

Egyptian referees Amin Omar and Mahmoud Abu Elregal are part of the team assigned to officiate this match, representing Egyptian officiating at the tournament being held across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 1:00 AM Cairo time on Wednesday, June 17, as part of Group A of the tournament.

This marks Amin Omar’s second appearance in this year’s World Cup, following his recent officiating of the South Korea vs. Czech Republic match, which ended with a 2-1 victory for South Korea.

Omar received widespread praise for his performance during that match, where he confidently controlled the game and applied the rules accurately throughout.

During that encounter, a total of 27 fouls were called, and only one yellow card was issued to South Korean player Lee Ki-hyuk for time-wasting in the closing minutes.

Amin Omar also drew attention when he halted play to require a Czech player to change his torn shirt, emphasizing his commitment to adhering to tournament regulations.

The Egyptian officiating team aims to continue their commendable performance throughout the World Cup, bolstered by increasing confidence from FIFA in Egyptian refereeing capabilities.
