Egyptian Referee Amin Omar to Officiate Argentina vs. Austria Clash in 2026 World Cup
The FIFA Referees Committee has appointed an Egyptian officiating crew, led by referee Amin Omar, to manage the match between Argentina and Austria in the second round of the group stage at the 2026 World Cup.
Omar will be assisted by Mahmoud Abu El-Ragel as the first assistant referee and Ahmed Hesham Taha as the second assistant referee, highlighting the confidence in Egyptian officiating during the tournament.
The match is scheduled for Monday, June 22, at 8 PM Cairo time, as part of Group D, which is witnessing a fierce battle for the top position.
Argentina kicked off their World Cup campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Algeria, with star player Lionel Messi scoring all three goals to secure their first three points in the group.
Meanwhile, Austria secured a crucial win against Jordan, finishing with a score of 3-1, allowing them to share the group lead with Argentina at three points each.
This upcoming match holds significant importance, as the winner will directly qualify for the Round of 32, adding intensity and excitement to this anticipated encounter between the two teams.
It is worth noting that Amin Omar’s crew previously officiated the match between Czech Republic and South Korea in the first round. Additionally, Omar served as the fourth official during the Norway vs. Iraq match.
