Mamdouh Ashour Selected as Video Assistant Referee for Argentina vs. Austria Match
The International Football Association (FIFA) has appointed Egyptian international referee Mamdouh Ashour to serve as part of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) team during the upcoming match between Argentina and Austria in the World Cup, as selected by the referees’ committee.
The officiating crew will be led by Egyptian referee Amin Omar, with Mahmoud Abou Elregal and Ahmed Hesham Taha serving as assistant referees. Spanish referee Alejandro Hernández will take on the role of fourth official, while Diego Sanchez will act as an additional assistant referee.
The VAR team includes Qatari referee Khamis Al-Marri alongside Mamdouh Ashour, with Nicaraguan referee Tatiana Oxiliadora Guzmán Alguera also joining as part of the video assistance team.
The match is scheduled to take place tomorrow, June 22, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, at 8 PM Cairo time.
This match marks Mamdouh Ashour’s fourth appearance in this World Cup, solidifying his status as a trusted figure by FIFA for managing VAR during major matches.
