Written byFerdous Saeed

Salem Al-Dosari, captain of the Saudi national team, has asserted that the chances of the “Green Falcons” advancing to the Round of 32 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup remain intact, despite their heavy 4-0 defeat to Spain in their second group stage match.

In statements made to beIN Sports following the match, Al-Dosari acknowledged that Saudi Arabia faced one of the strongest contenders for the title. He emphasized that the team was capable of performing better during the game.

The Saudi captain pointed out that individual and collective mistakes made by players directly contributed to the difficulties faced, especially against a team with such high quality and extensive international experience.

Al-Dosari stressed that the loss to Spain would be quickly overcome within the team’s camp, assuring that their full focus would now shift to the upcoming match against Cape Verde, which is crucial for their qualification hopes.

Concluding his remarks, he expressed confidence in his team’s ability to bounce back, stating that while Spain is among the best teams in the world, Saudi Arabia also possesses the potential to compete, provided they maintain complete concentration in their next match.
