Port Said University President Highlights Importance of Investing in Minds for Innovation and Digital Transformation

Port Said University, under the leadership of Dr. Sherif Youssef Saleh, continues to host the “Scientific Visitor: Migrant Arab Minds” program. This initiative is organized under the auspices of Dr. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO. The program is coordinated by the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science, and Culture in collaboration with Port Said University and the Arab Organization for Education, Culture, and Science (ALECSO), aiming to enhance scientific cooperation among Arab scholars and researchers.
The second day of the program featured a series of meetings and panel discussions focusing on the latest trends in higher education, the concept of a productive university, technological incubators, and interdisciplinary research laboratories. These discussions reflect modern approaches to developing higher education and scientific research systems.
Dr. Sherif Youssef Saleh opened the event by welcoming guests from ALECSO and the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science, and Culture, as well as visiting professors participating in the program. He emphasized Port Said University’s commitment to embracing diverse Arab and international experiences and enhancing scientific partnerships that support sustainable development goals while meeting contemporary demands.
The university president highlighted that hosting the “Scientific Visitor: Migrant Arab Minds” program represents a significant opportunity to benefit from distinguished Arab scientific expertise, exchange knowledge, and build bridges for academic and research cooperation. He affirmed that investing in minds and scientific competencies is fundamental to building a future that fosters innovation and digital transformation.
Dr. Mohamed Sand Abu Darwish, Director of Science and Research at ALECSO, expressed his happiness at holding this program for the first time in Egypt through Port Said University. He praised the development across various sectors of the university and its ambitious vision towards academic excellence.
Additionally, Dr. Rami Magdy, Assistant Secretary-General for ALECSO and ICESCO at the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science, and Culture, stressed the importance of this program in fostering communication among Arab scientists to exchange successful experiences while being open to different university systems that contribute to developing higher education institutions in the Arab region.
The event featured remarks from visiting professors including Dr. Aklef Al-Tarawneh, former president of Jordan University; Dr. Suzan Kreshan, Director-General of the Algorithmic Computing Center at Tunis University; Dr. Hussein Mahdi, Professor of Biophysics at Sharjah University; and Dr. Nibal Idlibi, Digital Transformation Policy Consultant. They expressed their appreciation for the distinguished academic and administrative standards observed at Port Said University while commending its human resources capabilities in building a modern university model aligned with international standards.
The visitors noted that their interactions with faculty members and researchers reflected Port Said University’s wealth of scientific expertise. They also expressed their desire to expand collaborative efforts through future research projects with various faculties within the university.
Furthermore, Dr. Saleh held an extensive discussion session attended by university vice presidents, deans of faculties, sector supervisors, and center directors to discuss several strategic files being developed by the university. Topics included new academic programs, international rankings, technological incubators, productive universities, as well as international academic and research cooperation—all aimed at enhancing competitiveness locally, regionally, and internationally.
