Bosnia and Herzegovina Ambassador Praises Port Said University as a Model for Academic Development

In a move to enhance its international presence and foster collaboration with various higher education and research institutions worldwide, Dr. Sherif Youssef Saleh, President of Port Said University, welcomed His Excellency Dr. Thabit Subatich, the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Egypt, to discuss ways to strengthen academic and research cooperation between the two parties.
At the beginning of the meeting, the university president expressed his warm welcome to the ambassador, emphasizing that international collaboration and the exchange of scientific expertise are top priorities for Port Said University. He stated that international academic partnerships are fundamental to building a more advanced and sustainable educational and research future.
Dr. Saleh noted that Port Said University is open to all international institutions and universities looking to establish fruitful cooperation, which serves mutual interests and contributes to supporting higher education and research at both regional and international levels.
In response, Ambassador Subatich expressed his delight at visiting Port Said University and meeting its academic leaders. He described the university as a distinguished scientific, research, and educational beacon, highlighting it as a successful model in academic and administrative development as well as infrastructure enhancement.
The ambassador acknowledged that his previous academic background before entering diplomacy allows him to appreciate the significant achievements of the university and its advanced scientific and research capabilities. He commended the strategic vision pursued by the university’s administration in enhancing its educational and administrative systems.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Kamel, Supervisor of Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, and Dr. Ahmed Hassan Anwar, International Relations Advisor to the President of the University. The president guided the ambassador on a tour of the central administration building where he observed modern facilities and organizational touches that characterize the building.
During his visit, Ambassador Subatich emphasized his commitment to making Bosnian universities direct strategic partners for Port Said University. He mentioned that he has personally reached out to several university presidents in Bosnia and Herzegovina to enhance future cooperation opportunities. He noted that many of these universities have shown significant interest in partnering with Port Said University after reviewing its profile and international achievements.
Furthermore, he revealed that the President of Tuzla University in Bosnia has initiated a draft agreement for joint cooperation in preparation for signing in the near future, which would open broad horizons for collaboration in research fields as well as faculty member and student exchanges.
The ambassador also held an extensive meeting with university vice presidents, deans of faculties, and members of the international cooperation team led by Dr. Mohamed Kamel. During this session, he presented an informative overview about Bosnia and Herzegovina along with its historical relations with Egypt, emphasizing that these ties provide a strong foundation for building sustainable academic partnerships.
He praised the warm welcome he received during his visit, affirming there is significant cultural and humanitarian closeness between Egyptian and Bosnian peoples. He concluded his remarks by calling for a new phase of fruitful research and academic cooperation between both sides.
At the end of their discussions, Port Said University’s International Relations team presented a comprehensive overview of the university’s status, scientific achievements, international rankings, and local as well as global partnerships. This prompted Ambassador Subatich to affirm that the future of cooperation between both parties holds promising opportunities given their shared scientific research capabilities.
As a gesture of appreciation for this fruitful visit aimed at initiating collaborative scientific endeavors between both sides, Dr. Saleh presented an honorary shield from Port Said University to Ambassador Subatich. In his concluding remarks during this occasion, he stated: “Port Said University believes that building bridges for international scientific cooperation is no longer an option but has become a strategic necessity for creating a more advanced and sustainable future. We cherish this visit as it marks the beginning of a new phase of partnership with Bosnian universities that will contribute to knowledge exchange while preparing competitive global talent.
