Health Ministry Shuts Down Unlicensed Clinic in Sheikh Zayed, Arrests Impersonating Pharmacist
Health Ministry Shuts Down Clinic in Sheikh Zayed.
The Ministry of Health and Population has announced the closure of an unlicensed specialized dietary clinic located in the “Medi Point” mall in Sheikh Zayed, Giza Governorate. This action follows the arrest of a pharmacist who was impersonating a physician and illegally operating the facility.
This decision was made during a surprise inspection conducted by a committee from the Giza Free Treatment Administration in coordination with the Egyptian Drug Authority. This initiative aligns with directives from Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, to intensify monitoring of private medical facilities and protect citizens from unauthorized practices.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the ministry’s spokesperson, stated that the inspection on Monday, June 8, 2026, identified the clinic operating without a license, violating Law No. 135 of 2004 regulating medical facilities. The operation led to the arrest of a pharmacist conducting medical examinations on patients while impersonating a doctor. A report for impersonation has been filed against her, alongside confiscation of various unlicensed medications.
Dr. Hisham Zaki, head of the Central Administration for Non-Governmental Treatment Institutions and Licensing, confirmed that following the completion of the report, the clinic was sealed with red tape and administratively closed. All reports have been forwarded to the public prosecution for legal action.
The ministry warns citizens against engaging with unlicensed clinics and encourages them to verify official licenses for any health practitioner before undergoing any examination or treatment. It reaffirms its commitment to ongoing proactive inspections against any violations that threaten public safety.
