Egypt’s Health Ministry Closes Unlicensed Nutrition Clinic in Sheikh Zayed
The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population has announced the closure of an unlicensed therapeutic nutrition clinic located in the Medi Point Mall in Sheikh Zayed, Giza. This action follows the apprehension of a pharmacist impersonating a medical doctor who was illegally operating the facility.
This enforcement action was part of a surprise inspection carried out by a committee from the Giza Health Care Authority, in coordination with the Egyptian Drug Authority. The operation aligns with directives from Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, to intensify oversight of private medical facilities and protect citizens from unauthorized practices.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the ministry’s official spokesperson, reported that inspectors discovered the clinic operating without proper licensing, violating Law No. 135 of 2004 regulating medical facilities. The investigation revealed that the pharmacist was conducting medical examinations on patients while falsely presenting herself as a licensed physician. A report for impersonation has been filed against her, and a quantity of unverified medications has been confiscated.
The clinic has been sealed with red tape and officially closed, with all related reports forwarded to the Public Prosecution for legal action.
The ministry reiterated its commitment to ongoing extensive monitoring campaigns and emphasized that it will not tolerate any violations that jeopardize the health and safety of Egyptian citizens.
