Health Minister Highlights Shifa Orman Hospital as a Model for State-Civil Society Partnership

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, stated that Shifa Orman Hospital in Luxor serves as a leading national model for the successful partnership between the state and civil society institutions in providing healthcare. He emphasized that the hospital exemplifies the capability of organized civil work to support state efforts in enhancing the healthcare system and achieving medical equity, particularly in Upper Egypt.
This statement was made during his participation in a celebration marking ten years since the establishment and operation of Shifa Orman Hospitals, which provide free cancer treatment. The event was attended by Minister of Social Solidarity Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Local Development Dr. Manal Awad, governors from Cairo and Aswan, the Chairman of the National Bank of Egypt, along with various leaders, partners, and supporters.



The minister highlighted that over the past decade, the hospital has successfully provided cancer treatment services free of charge while adhering to high-quality standards. This initiative has alleviated burdens for thousands of patients and their families, bringing specialized services closer to residents of Upper Egypt and reducing travel difficulties for treatment.
Dr. Abdel Ghaffar noted that under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s leadership, Egypt prioritizes human development through a comprehensive strategy aimed at enhancing the healthcare sector. This strategy focuses on expanding services, achieving universal health coverage, and providing high-quality treatment to all citizens.
He praised the role of Orman Association as a key partner in supporting the healthcare sector, commending its institutional management and governance that have transformed charitable work into sustainable institutions capable of delivering specialized services according to modern medical standards.
The minister also recognized the efforts of doctors, nursing staff, technicians, administrators, and volunteers at the hospital. He affirmed that their accomplishments reflect dedication and commitment to serving patients while embodying values of giving and social responsibility.
Furthermore, he assured that the ministry will continue to enhance collaboration with serious civil society organizations to expand healthcare services and achieve integration among partners. This effort aims to build a more efficient and sustainable healthcare system that ensures equitable access to high-quality care for all citizens.
