Health Ministry Launches ‘Mental Health Leadership Competition 2026’

Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population has officially launched the “Mental Health Leadership Competition 2026,” under the patronage of Minister Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar. This initiative is part of the ministry’s strategy to enhance continuous medical education and develop the skills of personnel within the mental health and addiction treatment sectors.
The competition reflects the government’s commitment to investing in human resources as a fundamental pillar for improving the healthcare system. It aims to establish a culture of excellence and continuous development while keeping pace with the latest scientific advancements in psychiatry and addiction treatment.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the ministry’s official spokesperson, stated that the competition is organized by the Central Administration for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment. Its goal is to encourage doctors and nursing staff to engage in lifelong learning, promote scientific research, and identify outstanding talents, ultimately enhancing the quality of therapeutic services provided to patients.
Participation in the competition was substantial, featuring 15 doctors from hospitals including Abbassia, Damira, Helwan, Benha, and El-Maamoura, with three doctors from each facility. Additionally, nine nursing competitors represented hospitals such as El-Maamoura, Sohag Mental Health Hospital, and Abbassia.
Dr. Ayman Abbas, head of the Central Administration for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, emphasized that this competition fosters a spirit of positive scientific competition and elevates professional knowledge. He noted that the ministry will continue to enhance training programs and ongoing medical education to meet the needs of healthcare workers and improve service quality.
Dr. Omnia Fekry, representing Mash Premier Pharmaceutical Industries, expressed pride in sponsoring the competition. She affirmed that this support stems from a belief in the importance of promoting continuous medical education and professional excellence among healthcare professionals.
