The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has issued a warning regarding a severe weather phenomenon affecting Greater Cairo and several other governorates today, Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

In a post on its official Facebook page, the authority stated that the weather is expected to be extremely hot across most regions, with hot conditions along the northern coasts during the day and moderate temperatures in most areas, becoming warm in southern Upper Egypt at night.

The meteorological authority highlighted that the weather phenomenon includes morning fog on some roads leading to and from northern regions up to Greater Cairo, the canal cities, central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt. The fog may be dense at times, potentially reducing horizontal visibility on certain routes.

Additionally, there is an expected increase in wind activity over parts of Greater Cairo and South Sinai, which may stir up dust and sand in areas of the western desert and northern and central Upper Egypt intermittently.

As for the Mediterranean Sea, conditions are anticipated to be light to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 1.25 to 1.75 meters and winds blowing from the northeast/northwest. Meanwhile, conditions in the Red Sea are expected to be moderate as well, with wave heights between 1.5 to 2 meters and winds blowing from the northwest.
