Manager Mikel Arteta has expressed intentions to be proactive in the transfer market following the team’s Champions League final defeat on May 30. However, there are indications that Arsenal may need to trim their roster before making any major signings.

According to Football Insider, White is intrigued by the prospect of joining Everton, with manager David Moyes having a high opinion of the defender.

Evaluating Ben White’s Future at Arsenal

White has played both as a centre-back and right-back since his £50 million transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2021. He has been an integral part of the team as they evolved into title contenders. However, the 28-year-old has recently slipped down the hierarchy at Arsenal, with Jurrien Timber now viewed as the first-choice right-back.

While White is regarded as technically superior with the ball compared to Timber, his defensive capabilities have come under scrutiny from fans. Notably, centre-back Cristhian Mosquera was utilized on the right side of defense during Timber’s absences.

White’s fitness issues have also been a concern; since the start of the 2024-25 season, he has missed 42 matches due to various injuries, including four knee problems since 2023-24. His ongoing fitness struggles raise questions about his reliability at the Emirates Stadium. With two years remaining on his contract, selling White now could maximize Arsenal’s return.

Arteta’s success in securing the title was built on strong defensive foundations; however, the team’s offensive output was lacking, scoring only 71 goals in league play. With uncertainty surrounding how referees will officiate set pieces next season—an area where Arsenal thrived offensively—finding new scoring avenues will be crucial.

Acquiring an additional winger for the left flank would be a prudent move. If finances allow, pursuing players like Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola could be beneficial. Moreover, adding an offensive-minded right-back might enhance Bukayo Saka’s performance, who has struggled alongside Timber on the same side.
