RB Leipzig Pursues Thierno Barry as Newcastle Anticipates Sandro Tonali Offers

Written byFerdous Saeed

RB Leipzig has reportedly expressed interest in Everton striker Thierno Barry as they aim to enhance their attacking lineup ahead of the upcoming season.

The 23-year-old forward joined Everton from Villarreal last summer for a fee of £27 million and participated in every Premier League match during his inaugural season.

Barry netted eight goals in the league during the 2025-26 campaign, although he faced challenges in securing a consistent starting position, sharing playing time with Beto throughout the season.

As reported by The Times, Leipzig has made an initial inquiry regarding the French international. The club’s return to the Champions League could bolster their chances of finalizing a deal.

If Leipzig intensifies their pursuit of the France Under-21 international, Everton is expected to seek at least their original investment before considering any offers.

Additionally, Everton is actively searching for a new right-back, with players such as Guela Doue, Raoul Bellanova, Djed Spence, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka reportedly on their radar.

In terms of strikers, Everton is reportedly looking into options for attacking reinforcements amid increasing interest in Beto from clubs in Italy.

After failing to secure a new forward in January, manager David Moyes is keen to avoid a repeat this summer and has identified Liam Delap as a potential target.

According to Sky Sports News, the Toffees are interested in signing the Chelsea striker, who scored two goals across all competitions last season.

Although Xabi Alonso plans to evaluate his squad during pre-season before making significant decisions, Delap’s long-term future remains uncertain.

The report indicates that Everton is hesitant to meet Chelsea’s £30 million asking price, but a loan arrangement could be a more feasible option.

Delap’s physicality, aerial prowess, and readiness to lead the attack align well with Moyes’ traditional preferences, making him an appealing prospect for the Merseyside club.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United is preparing for potential offers for midfielder Sandro Tonali, with several top Premier League clubs monitoring his situation closely.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are eager to secure the Italian’s services and have initiated discussions with his representatives.

Arsenal is also actively involved in the pursuit after making inquiries back in January. The Premier League champions continue to show strong interest in the former AC Milan player.

While Tonali is believed to be open to returning to Italy at some point in his career, he acknowledges that a move back to Serie A is financially unrealistic at this time.

The Magpies are reported to value Tonali at approximately £100 million, including add-ons. Despite this valuation, they have little inclination to part ways with one of their key players.

Having already approved Anthony Gordon’s transfer to Barcelona, Newcastle may consider another significant sale as they aim to raise funds for squad improvements and new signings this summer.
