Tottenham’s Transfer Focus: Key Priorities for the 2026 Summer Window
The 2026 summer transfer window has only just opened, yet Tottenham Hotspur has already emerged as one of the most active clubs in the Premier League. The team has secured the signings of Champions League winner Andy Robertson and World Cup representative Marcos Senesi on free transfers after their departures from Liverpool and Bournemouth, respectively. Additionally, negotiations to acquire Savinho from Manchester City are reportedly progressing well.
Securing their Premier League status on the final day of the previous season was crucial for Tottenham’s transfer strategy under manager Roberto De Zerbi and sporting director Johan Lange, who are focused on enhancing their attacking capabilities while addressing defensive needs.
Here, we outline Tottenham’s primary transfer priorities as they look ahead to the 2026 summer window.

As it stands, Tottenham will enter the 2026-27 season with a reduced midfield contingent, having lost Yves Bissouma and Joao Palhinha, both likely to have played their final matches for the club. Bissouma is confirmed to be departing as a free agent, while securing Palhinha on a permanent deal from Bayern Munich appears unlikely.
Although Archie Gray has shown promise in midfield, having been named Player of the Season, his limited playing time under De Zerbi—only eight minutes across Spurs’ last five Premier League matches—raises concerns about depth. Reports indicate that Tottenham is in pursuit of Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali to strengthen their midfield options. At 26 years old, Tonali would complement a young midfield group that includes Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Pape Sarr, and Rodrigo Bentancur.
2. Striker Upgrade

Replacing Harry Kane’s prolific scoring record poses a significant challenge for any forward; however, Tottenham has struggled to find an adequate replacement since his departure. Over the past three seasons, no Spurs player has exceeded 17 goals in all competitions. Son Heung-min reached that mark in 2023-24, followed by Brennan Johnson with a high of 11 in 2024-25 and Richarlison’s club-best total of 12 last season.
Meanwhile, record signing Dominic Solanke has faced difficulties with form and fitness, managing just six goals throughout the 2025-26 campaign. With Richarlison entering the final year of his contract, securing a new striker should be a priority for Lange. Reports suggest that Tottenham has been offered a Serie A striker to help address their attacking challenges.
3. Luka Vuskovic Situation

Tottenham currently possesses one of Europe’s most highly-rated teenage defenders in Luka Vuskovic—a player whose future decisions must be handled with care. The 19-year-old is currently representing Croatia at the World Cup after an impressive season with Hamburg in which he scored six goals in the Bundesliga.
The towering defender (6ft 4in) previously showcased his attacking prowess with ten direct contributions during his time at Belgian side Westerlo and even scored on his third senior appearance for Croatia. De Zerbi appears inclined to sell Vuskovic and replace him with Jan Paul van Hecke; however, any deal must exceed Brighton & Hove Albion’s initial £30 million offer or involve a beneficial player-plus-cash arrangement.
