Sisi Approves Wage Improvement Proposal for Egyptian Ambulance Authority Employees

On Saturday, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi convened a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, and Financial Advisor to the President Ahmed El-Shazly.

According to the official spokesperson for the presidency, President El-Sisi reviewed key work areas regarding the current status of the Comprehensive Health Insurance System, including progress in its digitization and preparations for pilot operations in Minya Governorate.

Minister Abdel Ghaffar highlighted that the Comprehensive Health Insurance System exemplifies health equity and community solidarity by establishing a healthcare system based on quality, sustainability, and fairness in service delivery. He noted the successful implementation of the first phase and ongoing preparations for the second phase.

The President stressed that every medical facility must be fully operational both medically and administratively before its inauguration to ensure high-quality healthcare services for citizens. He emphasized the need to expedite the completion of digitization efforts within the health insurance system and to implement a comprehensive national digital health system that integrates health information management with data oversight to ensure efficient operation and spending, while also supporting artificial intelligence applications in healthcare facilities.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson, added that the meeting also reviewed the implementation status of several health facility projects across the country, including timelines for completion of new projects such as Al-Alamein Hospital, Ras El-Hekma Hospital, Nile Medical City, Nile Children’s Hospital, Central Laboratories in Badr, and Qalaoun Eye Hospital. This also includes projects in Upper Egypt.

The President underscored the importance of enhancing collaboration between government entities, private sector partners, and strategic allies to execute national projects that align with Egypt’s vision for healthcare development. The meeting also covered updates related to the Egyptian Ambulance Authority, where President El-Sisi approved a proposal to improve wages within the authority. Minister Abdel Ghaffar provided an update on ambulance vehicles and fleet status in Egypt.

The meeting further included discussions on ongoing developments at Nile Medical City as well as a proposed project for establishing a city of hospitals and educational research institutes in the new capital. This initiative aims to create a comprehensive medical city featuring hospitals and research centers dedicated to improving healthcare services provided to citizens while enhancing high-quality healthcare delivery and supporting medical tourism.

Minister Abdel Ghaffar noted that this project aims to establish a leading medical center for advanced treatment services, medical research, training, and education. He indicated that various global companies have submitted proposals for this project; all offers are being evaluated in line with Egypt’s healthcare objectives. The Minister also reviewed updates on the “Nile National Center for Excellence in Medical Education,” which is set to be Egypt’s first center for medical simulation excellence and training using cutting-edge global simulation technologies.

The official spokesperson stated that Minister Abdel Ghaffar discussed investment opportunities in healthcare and local manufacturing support mechanisms. The President emphasized the need for an attractive investment environment that supports quality investments in health care as part of a strategic vision aimed at localizing medical industries and expanding specialized healthcare services while promoting self-sufficiency.

President El-Sisi reiterated his commitment to enhancing efficiency and accessibility of health services across Egypt through advanced facilities equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology.
