President Sisi Reaffirms Egypt’s Commitment to Supporting the Arab League

On Sunday, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi welcomed Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the egypts-full-support-for-nabil-fahmys-candidacy-as-arab-league-secretary-general/">Arab League, as his term nears its end. The official spokesperson for the presidency stated that the meeting was held to acknowledge Aboul Gheit’s contributions during his tenure. President Sisi expressed his deep appreciation for Aboul Gheit’s efforts to enhance Arab cooperation and develop the mechanisms of the General Secretariat.

He emphasized Egypt’s unwavering support for the Arab League, recognizing it as a fundamental platform for defending the interests of Arab nations and fostering collaboration among them, thereby fulfilling the aspirations of Arab peoples for prosperity and well-being.

Ambassador Mohamed Shennawy, the official spokesperson, added that Aboul Gheit expressed his profound gratitude to President Sisi for his ongoing support of the Arab League and his continuous commitment to safeguarding Arab national security and interests. He praised Egypt’s persistent backing of the League as a central platform for enhancing shared Arab relations and interests. Aboul Gheit also highlighted his pride in working closely with President Sisi and all Arab leaders during a time marked by unprecedented challenges to Arab national security and common interests.

The spokesperson concluded by noting that the meeting addressed several current challenges facing Arab security, which necessitate increased cooperation, coordination, and solidarity to build a better future for the Arab nation and navigate through this critical phase.
