Weather Forecast: Three Severe Phenomena Expected in Greater Cairo on Friday

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has highlighted key weather phenomena expected to significantly impact the weather on Friday, June 5, 2026, across Greater Cairo and other governorates.

In a post on its official Facebook page, the authority noted that extremely hot weather is anticipated during the day in most areas, while coastal regions will experience warm conditions. At night, temperatures are expected to be moderate to slightly warm across the majority of regions.

The main weather phenomena for today include morning fog on some roads leading to and from northern Egypt, including Greater Cairo, the Suez Canal cities, Central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt.

Additionally, there is a chance of light rain in parts of the northwestern coastal areas and the western desert, with moderate and occasionally thunderous rainfall possible in some areas of New Valley Governorate, at an estimated occurrence rate of around 20%.

Winds are expected to be active in most regions, potentially stirring up sand and dust in parts of the Red Sea Governorate at intermittent times.

The Mediterranean Sea is forecasted to have light to moderate conditions with wave heights ranging from 1.25 meters to 1.75 meters, with winds coming from the northeast. In contrast, the Red Sea is expected to be moderate to turbulent with wave heights between 1.5 meters and 2.5 meters, with winds blowing from the northwest.

Expected maximum temperatures today are as follows:.

  • Eastern North Coast: 28 to 30°C
  • Alexandria and El Alamein: 32 to 33°C
  • Matrouh and Sallum: 33 to 37°C
  • Greater Cairo and the Nile Delta: 35 to 36°C
  • Northern Upper Egypt: 37 to 38°C
  • Southern Upper Egypt: 40 to 42°C
