Cairo Governor Meets with Arab Cities Organization Secretary General to Discuss Urban Development

Dr. Ibrahim Saber, the Governor of Cairo, met with Badr Wael Al-Ajil Al-Askar, the Secretary General of the Arab Cities Organization, at his office to explore ways to enhance collaboration and share expertise between Cairo and member cities of the organization in areas such as local governance and sustainable urban development.

During the meeting, the governor emphasized Cairo’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with specialized Arab organizations focused on urban development. He highlighted the city’s ongoing large-scale developmental projects aimed at improving quality of life and achieving sustainable growth.

The governor also pointed out that exchanging successful experiences among Arab cities is crucial for addressing common challenges related to urban management, transportation, preserving architectural heritage, and adapting to environmental changes. He expressed Cairo’s readiness to collaborate with the organization on various initiatives and programs that support local development.

The Secretary General of the Arab Cities Organization praised Egypt’s efforts in implementing urban development projects and improving infrastructure. He stressed the importance of fostering cooperation among Arab cities and sharing successful practices to achieve sustainable development goals and enhance local governance efficiency.

The Arab Cities Organization is an independent regional non-governmental entity focused on city and municipal affairs in the Arab world. Established on March 15, 1967, its permanent headquarters is located in Kuwait.

Cairo is one of the founding cities and active members of the Arab Cities Organization. The organization was created to promote cooperation between Arabic cities and municipalities while facilitating knowledge exchange in local governance, urban development, and municipal services. Cairo participated in its first founding general conference held in 1967 and has hosted several executive council meetings for the organization.
