The weekly meeting of Egypt’s Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, concluded with several important decisions.

Among the key approvals, the Cabinet agreed to a presidential decree allocating a 16.47-acre plot of state-owned land in the Al-Hilfaya Bahri area of Nagaa Hamadi, Qena Governorate, to the National Authority for Drinking Water and Sanitation for the establishment of a secondary wastewater treatment plant.

The Cabinet also approved another presidential decree designating several plots of state-owned land in Ismailia, North Sinai, and Port Said for various developmental projects.

Furthermore, a decree was passed to allocate a 73,085.58-acre plot along the Cairo/Al-Wahat Road to the Tahya Misr Fund for implementing multiple projects.

In addition, the Cabinet modified the regulatory framework governing land use for renewable energy projects, as outlined in Cabinet Resolution No. 54 of 2023. This includes adding battery storage projects necessary for stabilizing the national electricity grid to accommodate renewable energy capacities. The fee for land use will be determined at no less than 2% of the available energy from these battery storage projects annually.

The Cabinet approved extending the “Treasures of the Pharaohs” exhibition after its current showing in Rome, Italy, which concludes on June 14, 2026. The exhibition will then move to the de Young Museum in San Francisco from July 30, 2026, to January 31, 2027, and to the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth from March 11 to September 19, 2027.

Additionally, approval was granted for the Egyptian Ambulance Authority to procure ambulances under Article 78 of Law No. 182 of 2018 on public contracting regulations. This aims to increase its fleet as part of a renewal plan to ensure sustainability and efficiency within its services.

The Cabinet also ratified decisions made by the Board of Directors of the Social Housing Fund and Mortgage Finance during its meeting No. (36) on May 12, 2026. These decisions include setting sale prices for residential units at two projects comprising buildings (66 + 53) located east of the Physical Education College in Port Fouad City, modifying maximum sale prices for units available under the middle-income category, and contracting with a facility management company for maintenance services for approximately 200,000 social housing units across new cities and governorates.
