Prime Minister Follow Up on Amendments to Building Violation Reconciliation Law

Meeting with Prime Minister.

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Egypt’s Prime Minister, convened an important meeting this evening at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to review the status of amendments to the building violation reconciliation law and discuss further facilitation measures. The meeting included key officials such as Engineer Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy; Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Environment; Engineer Randa El-Manshawi, Minister of Housing and Utilities; Engineer Ahmed Imran, Deputy Minister for Utilities; Engineer Mostafa El-Shimy, Chairman of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater; and Major General Hisham Fouad from the Electricity Police.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to resolving issues related to building violations and addressing any challenges arising during the implementation of reconciliation procedures under Law No. 187 of 2023 and its executive regulations.

He explained that discussions are currently underway regarding proposed amendments to the reconciliation law aimed at eliminating obstacles faced during its practical application. Additionally, these changes are designed to provide more facilitation for citizens in completing their reconciliation files. The Prime Minister emphasized that these amendments aim to strike a balance between enforcing the law and considering citizens’ social needs.

In this context, Dr. Madbouly urged for a prompt finalization of the proposed amendments to be submitted to Parliament for approval. He stressed that these changes would help address challenges faced during implementation and ensure resolution of this issue. He added that there should be incentives and facilitations to expedite reconciliation processes, which would assist in swiftly transitioning users of provisional meters to standard meters, thereby addressing issues faced by citizens with violations.
