Cairo Governor Highlights Importance of Child Protection in Society
Dr. Ibrahim Saber, the Governor of Cairo, attended the “Shield of Safety” initiative, which is sponsored by the Ministry of Social Solidarity, Wadi Degla Group, and SAFE Foundation. The initiative aims to promote a culture of protection and prevention for children while supporting Egyptian families.
In his speech, the Cairo Governor emphasized that this initiative serves as a successful model of cooperation and integration between state institutions, the private sector, and civil society organizations. It aims to achieve a crucial humanitarian and societal goal: providing safe and supportive environments for children and families while building generations capable of positively contributing to Egypt’s development journey.
He noted that children represent the true wealth of any society, stating that investing in their protection, care, and proper upbringing is a direct investment in the nation’s future. The “Shield of Safety” program aims to spread awareness about protection and prevention, enhance community awareness regarding the importance of providing safe environments for children, reduce risks they may face, and support families in fulfilling their educational and social roles effectively.
Furthermore, Dr. Saber highlighted that the Egyptian state, under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s leadership, places significant importance on building the Egyptian citizen as a fundamental pillar for comprehensive and sustainable development. This is achieved through various initiatives and programs aimed at protecting children, supporting Egyptian families, and improving citizens’ quality of life as part of the state’s vision for a more aware, cohesive, and stable society.
The program aligns with national efforts to promote community protection concepts and reinforce shared responsibility values. It also reflects the crucial role that the private sector can play through community responsibility initiatives that support development plans and achieve their objectives.
Dr. Ibrahim Saber expressed his sincere gratitude to Wadi Degla Group and SAFE Foundation for launching this initiative. He also thanked all partners involved from ministries, agencies, and institutions participating in this effort. He emphasized that protecting children and building a safe community is a collective responsibility requiring collaboration from all parties.
The Cairo Governor looks forward to seeing the program’s outcomes enhance community awareness and disseminate best practices related to child protection while providing safer and more supportive environments for them. This will positively impact Egyptian families and society as a whole.
