Cairo University’s Journal of Advanced Research Achieves Global Milestone
The Journal of Advanced Research (JAR) at Cairo University has achieved significant progress, as reflected in the latest journal evaluation metrics released by Clarivate for the year 2025.
The journal’s Impact Factor has risen to 17.1, marking its highest point since its inception, while retaining its position in the top tier “Q1” category in the multidisciplinary sciences field. This underscores its status among leading international scientific journals.
Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek, President of Cairo University, noted that this achievement aligns with the university’s strategy to enhance research quality, support international publication, and elevate the global competitiveness of its scientific journals. He emphasized that JAR has become a model for Arab academic journals capable of competing globally due to its adherence to best editorial practices and high standards of international scientific publication.
Dr. Abdel-Sadek further stated that the journal has consistently experienced growth over recent years, with its Impact Factor increasing from 10.479 in 2020 to 12.822 in 2021, then to 13.0 in the 2024 report, reaching 17.1 in the June 2026 report. This represents a growth rate exceeding 63% over five years, reflecting a continuous rise in citation rates for published research and growing trust from the international scientific community regarding its research quality.
He also highlighted that JAR maintained its ranking among elite global journals in multidisciplinary sciences, placing eleventh out of 136 international journals listed in this category. The success of JAR not only enhances Cairo University’s academic and research reputation but also boosts its financial resources, with revenues rising to approximately $660,000 this year compared to $84,000 in 2023, demonstrating success in achieving both scientific excellence and institutional sustainability.
Dr. Mahmoud El-Sayed, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, affirmed that JAR’s achievements reflect the university’s policies supporting international scientific publication and developing its affiliated journals. He noted that it has become a preferred destination for distinguished researchers worldwide due to its high scientific reputation and rigorous international peer-review standards.
He added that JAR is published in collaboration with Elsevier and is indexed in major international databases including Web of Science and Scopus, continuing to achieve high citation rates that enhance its standing among leading research journals globally.
Dr. Hussein Khaled, former Minister of Higher Education and Editor-in-Chief of the journal, stated that the management is committed to applying the latest international publishing policies while adhering strictly to globally recognized academic and ethical standards. He pointed out that the ongoing successes are a result of continuous institutional support from Cairo University’s administration, which contributes to maintaining its international standing and enhancing its role in disseminating knowledge and innovation within the global scientific community.
The Journal of Advanced Research is recognized as one of the prominent multidisciplinary international scientific journals established in 2010 under full ownership by Cairo University, with Elsevier serving as its publisher since inception.
