Arsenal’s Interest in Jeremy Monga Grows Following Rejected Bid

Written byFerdous Saeed

Arsenal has reportedly seen its initial offer for Leicester City prospect Jeremy Monga turned down. The 16-year-old midfielder is under contract until his professional deal takes effect on his 17th birthday, July 10.

Despite Leicester’s desire to retain such a promising talent, the club faces financial pressures due to EFL cost-control measures following their relegation to League One.

Arsenal, along with Brentford and Newcastle United, has expressed interest in Monga, although Arsenal currently leads the race for his signature.

Monga’s Transfer Prospects with Arsenal

According to The Telegraph, Arsenal has intensified its pursuit by making an official bid for the Leicester academy graduate. Although the Foxes have rejected this proposal, there is optimism that both clubs will eventually negotiate a transfer agreement.

This move aligns with Arsenal’s strategy of acquiring top academy talents who can evolve into first-team players and potentially yield significant financial returns in the future. Reports indicate that Monga has expressed a strong preference for joining Arsenal this summer.

Monga made his professional debut at just 15 years old during Leicester’s 3-0 Premier League loss to Newcastle United in April 2025.

Considerations for Loan Move

The young talent has participated in a total of 37 competitive matches, contributing one goal and two assists across 30 appearances during a challenging season for Leicester in 2025-26.

If Monga makes the switch to Arsenal this summer, he will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience through the club’s pre-season schedule. Manager Mikel Arteta will utilize this period to evaluate whether Monga is ready for first-team action in the upcoming season.

Given that he started only eight Championship games last season, it may be too soon for him to step directly into a Premier League role. This could lead Arsenal to finalize his signing while also seeking an appropriate loan destination for further development.
