Labor Minister Meets Huawei Delegation to Discuss Digital Transformation and Skills Development
Labor Minister Hassan Radad welcomed Du Yong, Vice President of Huawei Egypt, and accompanying company leaders at his office in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in digital transformation and human resources development, supporting the government’s efforts to prepare qualified personnel for the digital job market.
The discussions were part of preparations for the seventh edition of the annual employment forum “Hire 7,” scheduled for October. The Huawei delegation invited the minister to participate and sponsor the event.
Both parties agreed to expand collaboration by activating Huawei Academy’s role in vocational training, which aims to equip youth with cutting-edge technological skills while aligning training with local and global job market needs.
The talks also included strengthening joint efforts in cloud computing and digital transformation, alongside exploring proposals for training and preparing top graduates from Egyptian universities in the telecommunications and information technology sector. This initiative is designed to support the government’s goal of building a knowledge-based digital economy.
Additionally, they agreed to organize periodic workshops to raise awareness about compliance with modern labor legislation, particularly the new Labor Law. They also discussed cooperation in empowering individuals with disabilities and facilitating their integration into the technology sector while enhancing their digital skills.
At the beginning of the meeting, Du Yong congratulated the minister on his new position, expressing his best wishes for success. He reviewed Huawei’s journey in the Egyptian market since 2000 and its role in supporting the telecommunications and information technology ecosystem, solidifying Egypt’s position as a regional hub for technological innovation in the Middle East and North Africa.
The Vice President noted that Huawei’s activities in Egypt span several key sectors, including “Huawei Carrier” specializing in telecommunications networks, “Huawei Enterprise” for businesses, “Huawei Cloud” for cloud computing services, “Huawei Digital Power” for digital energy solutions, and “Huawei Consumer” for consumer devices.
He added that the company provides over 3,000 direct and indirect job opportunities in the Egyptian market, reaffirming its commitment to diversity and women’s empowerment, with women comprising approximately 30% of its workforce.
The meeting highlighted Huawei’s ongoing efforts to build human capital through strategic initiatives such as the ICT Talent Bank, which covers advanced technological specialties like artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and 5G networks. This initiative aims to prepare youth by connecting students, graduates, and professionals with local and global job opportunities via the “Hire” platform—a year-round employment forum linking talents with market needs.
