On Monday, Labor Minister Hassan Radad met with a delegation from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) at his office in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting included several ministry leaders and project team members, focusing on the development of an executive plan for the “Entry into the Labor Market” project, part of ongoing collaboration to support the state’s efforts in enhancing employment and creating a more efficient work environment responsive to labor market changes.
During the meeting, Radad emphasized the importance of aligning the project’s executive plan with new work patterns and the rapid transformations occurring in both local and global labor markets. He stressed the need to expand cooperation in areas related to digital transformation and capacity building to assist youth in entering the labor market, improve services provided to citizens, and raise awareness about the ministry’s services and how to benefit from them.
The minister also highlighted the significance of utilizing this project to support efforts toward integrating the informal sector into the formal economy. This includes building a comprehensive database and organizing employment for informal workers while identifying required professions across various geographical areas through employment offices spread throughout provinces. This initiative aims to create an accurate supply-and-demand database in the labor market, thus providing additional support and social protection opportunities for these groups.
During the meeting, representatives from GIZ reviewed the project’s objectives and components, confirming that “Entry into the Labor Market” reflects effective partnership with the Ministry of Labor to enhance decent work opportunities and improve employment services amid a rapidly changing world where labor markets have become more dynamic and competitive. This necessitates continuous development of policies, programs, and operational mechanisms.
The delegation noted that the project aims to enhance access for Egyptian youth to decent job opportunities, particularly for technicians and non-academics. It seeks to strengthen strategic and technical capacities for managing employment, improve recruitment services, and offer innovative digital solutions that effectively connect job seekers with employers while expanding labor market preparation programs based on actual needs.
Additionally, they pointed out that special attention is given to supporting gender equality initiatives and improving women’s access to labor markets, thereby enhancing their economic participation in line with Egypt’s economic and social empowerment goals.
In conclusion, Minister Hassan Radad asserted that developing operational mechanisms and enhancing decent job opportunities require a shared commitment and close cooperation among all stakeholders—government institutions, international partners, private sector entities, and civil society. He reiterated that the ministry will continue updating its services and developing its tools in line with Egypt’s vision for building a modern, inclusive, and sustainable labor market.
