The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has announced two significant weather phenomena expected to impact conditions across the region on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
In a statement posted on their official Facebook page, the authority indicated that fog is anticipated in the morning on several routes leading to and from northern regions, including Greater Cairo, the Canal Cities, Central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt. This fog may be dense at times on certain roads.
Additionally, there will be active winds in parts of Greater Cairo, South Sinai, the Red Sea Governorate, and northern Upper Egypt at intermittent intervals. Dust and sand may be stirred up from the borders in areas of Halayeb and Shalateen, which are coming from northern Sudan, potentially leading to reduced visibility.
Temperatures are expected to be hot and humid during the day across northern regions up to Greater Cairo, while southern areas will experience extreme heat. At night, temperatures will be moderate and humid in most areas but warm in southern Upper Egypt.
The Mediterranean Sea is forecasted to have light to moderate conditions with wave heights ranging from 1 meter to 1.75 meters and winds coming from the northeast. In contrast, the Red Sea is expected to be moderate to rough with wave heights between 1.5 meters and 2.5 meters and winds from the northwest.
Lastly, conditions in the Gulf of Suez are predicted to be moderate to rough as well, with wave heights ranging from 2 meters to 2.5 meters and winds coming from the northwest.
