Eng. Randa El-Manshawi, Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, announced that the “Al-Fustat Hills Gardens” project is one of the largest parks currently under development in the Middle East. The initiative aims to revitalize the historic Al-Fustat area, transforming it into a comprehensive cultural, environmental, and tourism destination.

This statement was made during an extensive tour of the project site, which spans 500 acres in Old Cairo, where she assessed the progress of various components of the initiative.

El-Manshawi emphasized that the project aligns with state efforts to revive historic areas and maximize their cultural and heritage assets. It is expected to enhance the quality of life and stimulate economic and cultural activities in the region.

During her visit, she inspected the investment area overlooking Ain Al-Hayat Lake, which will feature 12 restaurants, four shopping malls, and four parking garages. Additionally, a designated events area will include a Roman theater and a water fountain.

The minister also reviewed developments in the cultural area associated with the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. This section will have spaces for cultural activities as well as restaurants and various services, hosting events throughout the year.

The tour included an inspection of the hills and valley area, featuring “Qasaba Hill,” designated for a tourist hotel and service buildings, as well as “Excavation Hill,” which is being developed as an archaeological site to uncover remnants of historic Al-Fustat. Furthermore, “Heritage Garden Hill” will overlook the lake.

El-Manshawi concluded by stating that this project represents a significant addition to Cairo’s map of cultural, tourism, and recreational destinations while reflecting the government’s vision for developing historic areas while preserving their cultural identity.
